Hi, I'm Joe.

I'm a photographer in Fresno, California. Photography started as a hobby for me, but the thing that turned it into a business wasn't a camera at all. It was a leash.

I work at the shelter here in Fresno, rescuing dogs and helping them get ready for new homes. That means my week is full of nervous dogs, bouncy dogs, seniors, and everything in between, and I've gotten very good at reading them: when to push, when to back off, and how to win over a dog who isn't sure about you yet.

Shelter work taught me the only technique that really matters in pet photography: patience. I shoot on your pet's schedule, at their eye level, in natural light. Nervous rescues, seniors who need breaks, cats who will absolutely not be directed. All welcome. That's also why adopted and rescue pets get 10% off every session, always.

You'll also find portraits, a wedding, and some Yosemite on this site. Pets are what I book most and love most, but if that other work speaks to you, send me a note and we'll talk. When there's no dog in front of my camera, I'm probably up the hill in Yosemite with a few rolls of film.
